International Tax Pros

Here Is What Changes When You Join

From day one

You have access to practitioners who understand your world. Post a question in the forum – get answers from people who have been there. No judgment. No “that is a stupid question.” Just help.

Within your first month

You will attend a monthly AMA session with 20-30 other international tax pros. Bring your toughest questions. Get real answers from real practitioners. One answer can prevent five hours of floundering.

Within a few months

You will have built relationships with practitioners you can trust. People you can refer clients to when something is outside your expertise. People who can refer clients to you. A network that grows your practice.

Over the next year

You will find yourself working faster, more confidently, and with less stress. You will take on more complex work because you know you have backup. You will train your staff better because you have resources to share. You will move from compliance to advisory work.

That is what happens when you are not alone anymore.

Meet Phil Hodgen – Your Guide in This Community

I am Phil Hodgen. I have been practicing international tax for over 40 years.

I am not here to sell you a theory. I am a practitioner – like you.

Every day, I am in the trenches solving real problems for real clients. Forms 5471, 3520, 8865, PFICs – I do this work. I am a tax lawyer who has actually prepared hundreds of tax returns.

For years, I ran my international tax blog, answering questions and making this esoteric field understandable. Thousands of practitioners read it because I avoid jargon and legalese.

I explain things the way you wish someone had explained them to you.

Now I have built something better: a community where practitioners like us can help each other. Not a lecture hall. Not a CPE course. A real community.

I have top-tier technical skills, and I am easy to talk to and understand. That is what people say about me. If you are in a tough spot, I am someone you would want walking beside you.

I started this community because I know what it is like to be alone with a complex problem. I want to help you achieve what I have achieved: doing interesting work for nice people, getting paid fairly, and not being stressed out.

You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want. That is what this community is about.

Field Guide: The New Downward Attribution Rules for CFCs

The downward attribution rules changed dramatically with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed on July 4, 2025. Starting January 1, 2026, IRC sec. 958(b)(4) is reinstated (banning downward attribution) and new IRC sec. 951B is effective (introducing downward attribution in selected situations).

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We have members at all experience levels. If you are new, you can lurk and learn. Ask Phil privately if you have a “dumb question” (there are no dumb questions). He will either answer or post it anonymously for you. Everyone was new once. This community helps you get up to speed faster.

Probably. Even at big firms, you are often the designated international tax expert with no one to brainstorm with. This community gives you access to practitioners at other firms who face the same challenges. Plus, it is your network – not your firm’s. These relationships are yours.

This is the only community focused specifically on U.S. international tax practitioners. General accounting communities do not understand your problems. CPE courses give you theory. This community gives you practical answers from people doing the work every day.

As much or as little as you want. Some members are active daily in the forum. Others only show up for monthly calls. Some just search past discussions when they are stuck. There is no required participation. Use it how it helps you most.

We have members around the world. Many live outside the U.S. but serve U.S. clients or deal with U.S. tax issues. If you work with U.S. international tax, you belong here. The time zone for live calls is not perfect for everyone, but we record everything so you can watch later.

That is exactly what this community is for. The more specific your question, the more valuable it is when someone answers it. We have practitioners who specialize in every corner of international tax. Post it and see what happens. You will be surprised.

Members pay $250 for the London Summit on Friday, June 26 instead of $450 early bird (or $500 full price after 12 June) – a saving of $200 to $250. The Saturday session, The Business of Practice: Practical AI in Action, costs $250 for non-members and is free for members. If you attend both, the membership effectively covers $450 to $500 of event value before you’ve used anything else.

Once you join, we email you the discount code and post it inside the community. You’ve got two ways to use it: register and check out directly through Circle, where the events are listed with the discount already applied, or use the code on the standard Luma checkout page. No separate signup, no special link – the public event pages stay as they are.

Join Now

Join now and you’ll attend the London Summit at the members’ price of $250 (vs. $450 early bird / $500 full price) – and the Saturday session, The Business of Practice: Practical AI in Action, for free. After June 26, the events are over and the saving goes with them.

London is on June 26 and 27. Two events, one weekend. Members pay $250 for the Summit and nothing for the Saturday session. Non-members pay $450 (early bird) or $500 (from June 12) for the Summit, and $250 for the Saturday session. Join now and the membership pays for a meaningful chunk of itself before the year even starts.

The choice is yours. But the clock is ticking.
